BGH was founded in Annapolis and consists of partners John K. Hogan, Colin Lennon, and Alfredo Malinis. The trio is dedicated to creating authentic restaurant and bar concepts from nearly a century of restaurant and bar experience. Our goal is to build concept driven teams that bring world class food kitchens, award winning beverage programs, and deliver with its signature style of 'Irish hospitality and Maryland charm.'

John Hogan
Partner/Barman
Born in Annapolis, John Hogan is a professional bartender, consultant, and restaurateur with over 35 years of high-volume beverage, fine dining, and operations experience. John has been recognized both locally and nationally as a leading consultant and restaurateur. John has been an operations consultant since 2006 where he worked as the senior consulting partner with BarMagic of Las Vegas, an award winning hospitality and operations development outfit. As a consultant, he is an expert at dissecting operational efficiency, brand building and concept development, operations training, and management analysis and oversight. John has delivered his experience across four continents from South Africa to South America.
Colin Lennon
Partner/Operations
Colin and his family are local residents of Annapolis. Growing up in Western NY he spent his formative years in and around his family’s catering and restaurant businesses, as well as cutting his teeth in the many bars and restaurants in iconic cities like Dublin and New York. A former professional soccer player and college soccer coach, he has turned commercial real estate executive and businessman. Colin’s experience in the marketing and commercial real estate space has seen him build relationships and navigate the challenging avenues within the business and hospitality space. Through his efforts developing lasting relationships with local, regional and national clients, he delivers his skillset by managing expectations and deliverables across all industries. His career has taken him throughout the world and fostered his passion for hospitality. His commitment is untethered, his soul is strong, and he completes By George Hospitality.
Alfredo Malinis
Partner/Chef
The son of a U.S. Naval officer, Chef Alfredo, moved from the Philippines at the age of two. He has made Maryland and the Mid-Atlantic region his life long home and concentration for his culinary career. A graduate of the IUP Academy of Culinary Arts, he has over 25 years of local and regional experience in several chef roles including private, corporate, and standalone concepts. In 2009, ‘Fredo’ led the culinary team opening Level Small Plates Lounge with partner John K. Hogan. In two short years Level received numerous regional culinary awards and attracted national press and set the bar for culinary growth in the Annapolis market. His talent has been sought by excellent restaurants along the east coast from Connecticut to Florida with stops along the way at the prestigious James Beard House, MGM International, the State of Maryland Governor’s Mansion, and with Iron chef and Michelin rated Marcus Samuelsson (MSG group).
